CADETTE WOMEN’S NATIONAL TEAM ROSTER ANNOUNCED

Toronto, ON — Canada Basketball is excited to announce the 12 women who will represent Team Canada at the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship for Women in the Czech Republic. The Cadette Women’s National Team will look to build off their recent success, which included a bronze and silver medal in the past two years respectively.

“We are thrilled with our team. Over my four years, this was the toughest year for selection. It is always an honour to be a part of the athletes first experience at a World Championship,” said head coach Carly Clarke.

“All of our athletes have put in a tremendous amount of work to prepare themselves for the World Championship experience. Every world championship presents different challenges game to game – the cohesiveness, IQ and diversity of our athletes skill sets will present challenges for our opponents.”

First, Canada will play in an exhibition tournament in Nogent-sur-Seine, France in order to prepare for the World Championships.

At the Championships, Canada will compete in Group A. The group features the Hungary, Korea and the host nation, Czech Republic. The CWNT’s first game will be on Saturday, June 28 against Hungary.
