U19 WOMEN’S NATIONAL TEAM ANNOUNCES
FIBA U19 WOMEN’S BASKETBALL WORLD CUP 2017 ROSTER
12 ATHLETES SET TO REPRESENT CANADA IN ITALY

TORONTO, ON (July 7, 2017) – Canada Basketball’s Women’s High Performance program is pleased to announce the final roster for the U19 Women’s National Team set to compete at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2017 in Udine and Cividale del Friuli, Italy.

“After a very competitive tryout we have selected 12 athletes to represent Canada in Italy for the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2017,” said Denise Dignard, Director, Women’s High Performance. “We look forward to seeing these athletes build on their previous international experience and compete against the best in the world within their age-group.”

Carly Clarke (Ryerson University) takes the helm in her second year as Head Coach. Clarke is joined by Assistant Coaches Ryan Thorne (McGill University) and Claire Meadows (UBC Okanagan), along with Performance Analyst Nick DeAdder (Acadia University).

The team is currently at training camp until July 11th at Humber College – North and will travel to Voiron, France for an exhibition tournament from July 15-17 en route to Italy. Canada is set to compete against 3rd ranked France, 7th ranked Australia and 9th ranked China and will face host France Saturday July 15 at 12 PM EST.

The women tip-off at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2017 on Saturday July 22 against 15th ranked Korea at 8: 00 AM EST in Udine, Italy.

Canada looks to improve upon their 8th place finish from 2015.

Canada is currently ranked 4th worldwide in the FIBA youth girls rankings.
