“We’re looking forward to working with this group of young men,” said Craig Beaucamp, Head Coach. “It will be a competitive camp as we look to put together the best team to compete at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship.”Joining Beaucamp (University of Victoria) on the bench will be Assistants Rob Smart (Carleton University), Patrick Tatham (McMaster University), and Michael Meeks (Canada Basketball). Steve Konchalski (Canada Basketball) will also join as the Mentor Coach.
“This competition will provide the opportunity to develop our next wave of athletes, as we look to qualify for the U17 Worlds in 2018,” added Michael Meeks, Manager of Canada Basketball Men’s Youth Player Development.
The group will train in Toronto until June 9th and the final 12-man roster will be selected to represent Canada at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship in Formosa, Argentina.
Canada is currently ranked 3rd worldwide in the FIBA Youth Men Rankings.
